“And this chair fit just riggghhttt”
Director: Sanaa Hamri
Cast: Common, Queen Latifah, Paula Patton, Pam Grier
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Running Time: 99 minutes
She can sing, she can rap, she’s beautiful, charming and magnetic. Queen Latifah shines in Just Wright. One of the things that is most appealing about Latifah, is that she clearly likes herself and that confidence radiates on screen. After all, people are attracted to happiest person in the room, right?
Just Wright centres around a physical therapist (Latifah) trying to find love as opposed to more guy friends who think she is “just amazing”. She is used to taking the back burner to her beautiful, gorgeous god-sister and BFF (Patton), who also happens to be a gold digger looking to marry rich and famous. Latifah goes on to become the PT for an NBA player she happens to admire (Common) and who also happens to be in love with Patton.
The Long and Short: I needn’t say more as the story’s ending is quite predictable and the plot does not contain any significant twists and turns. However, the story is still endearing and more so, highly relatable for some of us women. The characters were not completely unidentifiable- each is somebody we as the average person would know of.An enjoyable film indeed. Definitely more for the ladies than the guys.
My Recommendation: A good chick flick to see with your ladies on a “Why do men suck so much?” kind of night.
Favourite Scene: Didn’t have one, unfortunately.
